Kalam Pakistan: A Tourist’s Delight

From the sweltering heat of summer people tend to take refuge in the nothern areas of Pakistan that holds great scenic beauty and pleasant weather one of such places is Kalam.

With the name Kalam, the image of lush green mountains, ever-flowing streams, snow-caped peaks and beautiful meadows come to one’s mind.

Located in the upper reaches of Swat valley (Which is also a great tourists spot) , Kalam is about 2000 meters above sea level.. It is about 270 km drive from the capital of Pakistan.

As you enter this Village cum Valley, you will be welcomed by a pleasant breeze and breath-taking scenery.

A glimpse of the Valley

What else? There’s so much over there for people like me who loves photography and hiking. Wherever you go, you would be tempted to capture as many images as possible.

Forests of pine trees, river Swat that flows through this region, Apple Peach and Plum trees (even Cherries), Glaciers and streams will leave you awestruck.

The people of Kalam are extremely hard-working, nearly every house has its own fruit gardens, vegetable patches and cattle. You will meet shepherds and kids with rosy cheeks and beautiful eyes who are collecting wood or selling fruits and other items.

Falak Ser is a famous peak, and there’s another unknown high peak that remains covered in the snow even in Summers.

Mahudand (Which means a Pond of Fish) is an extremely beautiful pond that is famous for Trout.

Fried Trout is perhaps the best food that one should try.

After the flood destroyed this beautiful valley, people rebuilt everything and it took almost 4 years for the tourists to go there. The government of Pakistan organised a festival this year mainly to attract tourists and restore the lost charm of Kalam

The main Bazar of Kalam depicts the true culture of the region. Handicrafts,  dresses and jewellery are the items that will catch your attention for sure. Made by the local people, these items are extremely colorful and just the sight of them is amazing!

You will come across Groups of friends enjoying their time dancing with the folk songs. Rabab and flute  if played in this region will warm up your heart and let your grief fly away with the tune…

For more photos.. Stay tuned 😀

PS .. How could I forget the Magnificent sky.. Covered in cotton-white clouds during the day and SO MANY STARS at night and I really mean it when I say SO MANY. The night the moon is full is a treat to watch, simply  picture-perfect!

Playing in a pool of…

Few months back, I watched the movie Patch Adams  in which the old lady who is extrememly ill is asked by a medical student to express her heartious wish (the student intends to fulfill her wish to make her feel better ) she recals a tale of noodles and says,

“I want to be in a pool of noodles.”

I was like Eww..  But later as I watched the movie I actually enjoyed the part where the kind student fulfills her desire and the old woman plays in a pool of noodles- squeezing them in her fingers and pouring them over her head and SWIMMING in the pool or thats what I think it was 😀

My thoughts later that night revolved around the same question- What if  some kind doctor (If there are any in Pakistan 😛 ) asks me to express such a wish what would my answer be?

And I knew instantly that there is one thing I really LOVE!
I would definitely request to play in it. Ok… No suspence intended! 😛
I LOVE COLOURS!   Paints , Crayons, Markers, Colour Pencils, Embose – simply every such thing.
Even the coloured decorative papers.

Its so mouth-watering just looking at colours and being in a pool of colours would be so….. AWESOME? !! (Thats the only word that really satisfies me when I try to express this feeling.. this awesome feeling in words :P)

My imagination took me beyond ‘Looking-at-colours-is-mouth-watering.’
I imagied myself having large quantity of paints, dripping from whatever the container is that holds it. Over flowing from the containers/mini tanks 😛 as I dip BIG brushes into them and paint the walls.  Or simply throw them around and bathe my room in paints- or wait- imaginations have no limits right? So yeah, I was saying?  why not paint the entire house or the entire street or town or.. or… or.. 😀

Or wait- why dip the brushes when I have hands!

If someone (I really hope it happens before a doctor has to ask me on my death bed though :P)  buys me all those paints *Yummmmyyy*, all I’d do is dip my hands into them and paint everything around me. Bright red, fresh green, tempting orange, cyan and a nice purple and my favourite yellow and all the other colours! I’d go C.R.A.Z.Y!! o.O

Just the idea of being surrounded by colours is so darn, er, awesome !! 😀

P.S… I Love google for having so many colourful images.. A real treat for the eyes! 😛
